My Journey back to the world of performance
After a number of years working in the corporate sector, first gaining my ACA accountancy qualification in 2019 and then leading on some of the largest and most complex accounts in the UK and beyond, I’ve decided it’s about time to return wholeheartedly to the world I grew up in, the world of performance and music-making.
You might think that Chartered Accountant and freelance musician is a fairly unusual combination, and you’d be right in that my life so far has felt a little like a tale of two halves. After gaining my Music degree at Cambridge University and Master of Performance at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, I have continued my musical journey in the margins of corporate life, performing and touring where I can find the time, and continuing to study and facilitate the somewhat delicate transition from classical baritone voice to tenor.
I’m so excited to be bringing all my skills back to the stage and to be helping my fellow performers with industry-specific knowledge on how best to handle the tax man and navigate the various challenges that our profession throws up with minimal stress. With Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment approaching, I hope I can lend a helping hand at a time when it may be needed most.
